An inmate at the Floyd County Jail, Christopher Lewis Gravely, 26 of Rome, is now being charged with the statutory rape of a child.
Reports said that Gravely engaged in sexual activity with a 15 year-od girl at his home on Wentworth Place in the Garden Lakes Community.
Police said that the sexual encounter occured between December 10 and 11 last year.
Gravely has been housed at the jail since May 23 for an unrelated parole violation charge. He is now charged with statutory rape and obscene internet contact with a child.
