Rome Man Charged in Second Alleged Check Forgery Case This Month

Perry Lee Barnes Jr, 43 of Rome, was jailed this week after reports said he forged a check belonging to Carver and Carver Plumbing.

Reports said that Barnes altered a written check to the business and then deposited it into his own account for personal gain.  Reports did not list the amount that was taken.

Barnes is charged with 4^th degree forgery.

The arrest comes three weeks after Barnes was arrested for a similar crime.  On May 26, Barnes was charged with forging a check belonging to Robert H. Edwards DDS. Police said that Barnes altered a check belonging to the dentist and deposited it into his personal checking account.  Reports stated that Barnes “washed” the check and put his name into the “to the order of” line.
