Motorists traveling through downtown Cartersville should prepare for traffic changes this week as CSX crews begin resurfacing work at the Main Street railroad crossing.

Weather permitting, the railroad crossing will be closed beginning Tuesday, June 2, with Main Street shut down between Museum Drive and Erwin Street for the duration of the project.

The closure is expected to remain in place through Friday, June 5, while crews complete improvements to the crossing surface. Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes and allow extra travel time while the work is underway.

City officials said the crossing is expected to reopen once the resurfacing project is completed.
