All criminal charges against a Bartow County man accused of rape and child molestation have been dismissed following his death. According to court documents, charges against 74-year-old Robert Edward Dillen were officially dropped recently. The dismissal was entered due to Dillen’s death.

Court records do not provide details regarding the circumstances surrounding his death.

Dillen was arrested in 2022 and faced multiple felony charges, including terroristic threats and acts, false imprisonment, five counts of child molestation, two counts of enticing a child for indecent purposes, strong-arm rape, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

According to arrest warrants, investigators alleged that between Jan. 1, 2021, and Aug. 4, 2022, Dillen raped a child under the age of 16 at his residence on Sugar Valley Road.

Dillen pleaded not guilty to the charges. The case moved forward after a Bartow County grand jury returned a true bill of indictment.

In 2023, Dillen was released on a $30,000 bond and was ordered by the court to wear an electronic monitoring device while awaiting trial.

With Dillen’s death, the criminal proceedings have been terminated and all charges have been dismissed.
