Adairsville High School has been recognized by the Georgia Department of Education as a 2026 Creative School Arts Integration School of Excellence, one of only five schools statewide to receive the honor.
The award recognizes schools that have successfully embedded arts integration throughout their curriculum, making the arts an essential part of instruction across multiple subject areas.
At Adairsville High School, arts integration serves as a schoolwide instructional approach that supports the school’s STEAM certification goals. Students combine artistic processes with academic and STEM learning through programs in theatre, music, visual arts, media production, esports and interdisciplinary projects.
Students demonstrate their learning through performances, media productions, design-based projects and competitions, with many of their works showcased during public events and school activities.
State School Superintendent Richard Woods said the honored schools represent the type of innovative instruction Georgia wants to provide all students.
“The schools awarded today exemplify the kind of innovative, engaging instruction we want every student in Georgia to have access to,” Woods said. “These schools show what’s possible when the arts are fully integrated into the educational experience, and they serve as models for schools across our state.”
Georgia Department of Education Fine Arts Specialist Paul McClain said the recognized schools demonstrate how arts integration can strengthen student learning while connecting academic standards with creative practice.
The Creative School Arts Integration School of Excellence Award is open to all Georgia public K-12 schools and recognizes campuses that demonstrate excellence in arts-integrated instruction, teacher collaboration, professional learning, program organization and community involvement.
