Jimmy Lee Ashworth, 43 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he poured gas on a shed on Pearson Road and then tried to burn it down.
Reports added that Ashworth proceeded to light a torch lighter and left it facing the wooden structure before leaving it to burn.
Officers went on to say that Ashworth fled on foot while refusing to obey lawful demands. He is also accused of telling officers that he was going to destroy the property.
Ashworth is charged with first degree arson, criminal trespass, terroristic threats/acts and obstruction.
