A Rome man is facing multiple felony charges after authorities reportedly uncovered stolen vehicle parts, firearms, drugs, and tools used in vehicle theft operations during the execution of a search warrant this week. According to reports, 23-year-old Ahmide Trayvon Lee Berry was arrested after investigators allegedly discovered numerous vehicle parts missing identification markings, while others reportedly had manufacturer stickers removed or altered.
Authorities said Berry was found in possession of stolen property valued at more than $2,000. Investigators believe there was probable cause to determine that some of the items had been stolen outside the state of Georgia and transported into the state.
Reports also stated that one vehicle located during the search had been disassembled, and at least one component lacked a manufacturer’s identification sticker. Additionally, investigators noted that a plate located underneath the vehicle appeared to have been tampered with, with no visible letters or numbers remaining.
Police further alleged that Berry possessed a pistol during the commission of the theft-related offenses. Officers also reportedly recovered a small amount of marijuana and tools believed to have been used in committing the crimes.
Berry has been charged with theft by receiving stolen property, felony theft by bringing stolen property into the state, theft by receiving property stolen in another state, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, criminal use of an altered identification mark, operating a chop shop, possession of tools for the commission of a crime, and possession of marijuana.
