The Model High Lady Blue Devils are headed back to the GHSA Class A Division I state championship following 1-0 victory over Academy of Classical Education in the state semifinals on Thursday.
The win Model improved to 20-2 and extended the team’s shutout streak to 12 consecutive matches. The Lady Blue Devils have yet to allow a goal in this year’s playoffs, continuing the defensive dominance that carried them to the 2025 state title.
Head coach Lauren Jones praised her team’s effort in what she called a physical, back-and-forth battle.
“ACE did a great job offensively, but our defense stayed strong and was able to keep them off the board,” Jones said, highlighting defenders Claire Allmon, Lyla Patterson, Kensley Skinner, and Macy Davis, along with goalkeeper Maddie Green, who made two key late saves.
The Lady Blue Devils will now face top-seeded Thomasville in the state championship match on May 14 at Matthews Field in Thomaston.
