Drivers in Cartersville should prepare for traffic changes next week as CSX crews begin work to resurface the railroad crossing on Main Street.
Weather permitting, the crossing will be closed for five days beginning Tuesday, May 26, with Main Street shut down between Museum Drive and Erwin Street while crews complete the repairs. The closure is expected to remain in place through Saturday, May 30.
Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes and allow extra travel time, as delays are expected in the area during the construction period.
Transportation officials are urging drivers to use caution when traveling near work zones, reduce speed, and remain alert for crews and equipment.
Travelers can check real-time traffic updates and road conditions by calling 511, visiting 511ga.org, or using the Georgia 511 app.
