A man who spent decades in prison for a crime he did not commit, Cain Joshua Storey, 46 of Rome, was arrested this week on drug and gun charges.
Reports said that Storey was arrested on the Loop at Calhoun Road after officers found him in possession of suspected methamphetamine, marijuana, and a handgun.
Police stated that while being questioned, Storey refused to comply with officers.
Storey is charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and obstruction of police.
Storey was imprisoned for over 25 years for a murder he claims he didn’t commit. His conviction was overturned in 2022 when new evidence indicated the victim died playing Russian roulette, resulting in his release after a guilty plea to involuntary manslaughter for providing the gun.
