Floyd County Elections has received national recognition for its innovative efforts to keep voters informed and engaged through a community-focused education campaign.
The department’s “Hey Neighbor: A Community-Based Voter Education and Communications Campaign” was honored by the U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) as part of its annual Clearinghouse Awards, commonly known as the “Clearie” Awards. The program was one of just 46 initiatives nationwide selected for recognition for excellence in election administration.
The EAC, established through the Help America Vote Act of 2002, serves as a national resource for election administration information. Since launching the Clearie Awards in 2016, the commission has highlighted outstanding practices and celebrated the work of election officials across the country.
Floyd County’s award-winning “Hey Neighbor” campaign was designed to make election information more accessible and easier for residents to understand through a friendly, community-centered approach.
A key feature of the initiative is a refrigerator magnet distributed to voters that includes a QR code linking directly to a central online hub. The webpage provides important election resources, including early voting information, access to Georgia’s My Voter Page, and a complete election calendar.
The “Hey Neighbor” branding extends beyond the magnet, appearing in printed materials, social media outreach, press releases, and a quarterly newspaper column aimed at answering voter questions in a clear, conversational, and nonpartisan format.
By combining consistent messaging, trusted local media partnerships, and centralized access to election information, Floyd County Elections says the campaign helps reduce voter confusion, improve confidence in the election process, and support efficient election administration.
For residents, the campaign offers timely, reliable information designed to make participating in elections easier and more accessible.
