Cartersville police say Brandon Vincent Reaves, 28, is in custody after allegedly stabbing three family members inside a home on Clearview Drive in Cartersville.

Officers responded to a domestic violence call at the residence and found Reaves’ mother lying on the steps with a severe laceration to her midsection. She told officers her son had attacked her.

Police then went upstairs, where they found Reaves being restrained by his father and brother. Authorities reported a large amount of blood at the scene before taking him into custody.

According to investigators, Reaves came upstairs armed with a knife. When questioned by his father, he allegedly threatened to use it. A struggle followed, during which the mother was stabbed. The father and brother intervened and were able to disarm him, holding him down until officers arrived. The mother called 911 during the incident.

All three victims sustained stab wounds. The mother suffered severe injuries to her stomach, while the father and brother both received multiple puncture wounds.

Emergency crews transported the victims to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital for treatment. Reaves was also treated for cuts to his hands before being taken to the Bartow County Jail.

He faces charges including aggravated assault and felony probation violation. Police said he also had an active warrant at the time of the incident.

The Cartersville Police Department has turned the case over to its Criminal Investigations Division. Officers recovered the knife, and body camera footage documented the scene. The investigation remains ongoing.
