A Rome man with a history of driving offenses was arrested following a traffic stop late this week. Oscar Jovany Martinez, 32 of Rome, was taken into custody after officers stopped his vehicle on North Fifth Avenue at Martha Berry Boulevard for driving without headlights.

During the stop, officers determined that Martinez’s driver’s license had been suspended or revoked.

Authorities also reported that Martinez showed signs of impairment, including the odor of alcohol and slurred speech.

Jail records indicate that Martinez has four prior convictions for driving under the influence and five previous convictions for driving with a suspended or revoked license. He was charged with DUI, driving on a suspended license, and felony habitual violator.
