The Floyd County Special Olympics brought smiles, energy, and a strong sense of community as athletes, volunteers, and supporters gathered for a day of celebration and competition.
The event, hosted by Darlington School, drew participation and support from a wide range of local organizations, including Floyd County Schools, Rome City Schools, Network Day Service Center, Open Path Center, the Just As I Am Choir, DIGS Inc., and the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office.

Volunteers — including members of Darlington’s freshman class — played a key role in ensuring the day ran smoothly, assisting athletes and helping coordinate activities throughout the event.
Organizers said the event would not have been possible without the generosity of donors and the dedication of community partners who came together to support the athletes.

From spirited competition to shared laughter, the day was marked by unforgettable moments and enthusiastic participation, with many already looking ahead to next year’s event.
