False Theft Claim Leads to Rome Woman’s Arrest in Ongoing Dispute

Janie Lou Edwards, 75 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said she violated a TPO by making a false report against another woman.

Reports said that Edward had a “friend” call 911 in reference to a theft she claimed took place.  This came after the victim placed a TPO against Edwards.

Police added that the TPO was put in effect due to the same occurrences taking place multiple times over the past year.

Edwards is charged with aggravated stalking and unlawful conduct during a 911 call.
