According to authorities, 56-year-old Cynthia Ann Philpot, of Cedartown, is charged with simple assault in connection to an altercation that occurred at a residence on Spruce Street.
Police were initially dispatched after a 911 call reporting a dispute. By the time officers arrived, the other individuals involved had already left the scene. Philpot told authorities the confrontation began when her ex-husband and his wife came to the home to pick up a child. She said a verbal disagreement escalated due to prior issues.
During the investigation, Philpot admitted to reaching into a vehicle and grabbing the other woman’s hair, leading to a brief physical altercation.
The other parties later went to the Cedartown Police Department and provided video evidence of the incident, which officials say was consistent with the account given on scene.
Philpot was taken into custody and transported to the Polk County Jail without incident.
