Tony Pyle, police chief in Calhoun, has stepped down from a leadership role with the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police while he remains on paid administrative leave.

The organization announced Friday, April 17, that Pyle resigned this week as the District 8 representative. He had served as a liaison between local agencies and the state group.

GACP officials said Pyle was not required to inform them about the investigation. Executive Director A.A. “Butch” Ayers said Pyle voluntarily stepped down and a replacement will be named soon.

Pyle’s resignation from the GACP does not affect his job with the city. He remains on administrative leave as the investigation into the Calhoun Police Department continues. No timeline has been announced for its completion.
