John Andrew Becknell, 45 of Rockmart, was arrested this week after reports said he burglarized a home and exploited the elderly owner.
Bucknell is accused of promising the elderly homeowner that he would perform handyman work for him. Bucknell was given $3,300 in advance, but never performed the work.
Police said that Bucknell then illegally entered the home on Pheasant Run Road and stole approximately $2,037 in items while the victim was out of town. The burglary occurred sometime between November 14, 2025 and December 15, 2025.
Becknell is charged with first-degree burglary, theft by taking and exploiting the elderly.
