Jefferson’s is excited to announce the return of the “Rome Jefferson’s Teacher of the Year” award, in honor of National Teachers’ Day on Tuesday, May 5. This initiative aims to celebrate the dedication of teachers who are making an impact by inspiring a love of learning in their students, leading by example in their communities, and consistently going the extra mile both in and out of the classroom.

The nomination period opens today, March 30, and closes on April 8 at 11:59pm.

  • $500 Jefferson’s gift card.
  • Their name added to the Jefferson’s Teacher of the Year recognition plaque that will be prominently displayed at Jefferson’s for all patrons to see.
  • Location: 340 Broad Street

“A great teacher can change the course of a life,” said Rome Jefferson’s co-owner Wayne Mullinax. “They shape not only their students but their communities, embodying everything that we look for in a leader—passion, consistency, kindheartedness, and sacrifice, for a start. Community is one of our core values here at Jefferson’s, and we loved being able to pilot this program last year to highlight one of the many deserving teachers leading by example in Rome. We’re glad to bring back Teacher of the Year to continue that tradition.”

Amy Reyes, third grade teacher at West End Elementary School, was named Jefferson’s first-ever Rome Teacher of the Year in 2025. Ms. Reyes has been teaching for five years, and was selected as Teacher of the Year for her generosity, energy, and infectious joy.

Over the last three years, Jefferson’s has also launched and expanded a Coach of the Year program, committed to honoring extraordinary coaches and community members. The Teacher of the Year initiative was launched in 2025 as a sister program—an additional opportunity for Jefferson’s to recognize the individuals going above and beyond for the youth in their communities.

Community members interested in nominating a teacher can submit their nominations via the Rome Jefferson’s Nomination Form during the submission period. The winner will be announced on National Teachers’ Day: Tuesday, May 5. For full Teacher of the Year program details visit jeffersons.com/teacher-of-the-year.
