The Floyd County Finance Department has once again been recognized for excellence in financial reporting, earning the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA).

The award was given for the county’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the fiscal year ending Dec. 31, 2024, marking the 41st year Floyd County has received the honor.

According to GFOA, the report was reviewed by an impartial panel and met the program’s high standards. The review process evaluates whether the report demonstrates a strong commitment to transparency and provides a clear and complete explanation of a government’s financial condition so it can be easily understood by readers and stakeholders.

Floyd County Finance Director Susie Gass praised the department’s ongoing efforts.

“I’m very proud of all the hard work the department puts in every day, and the efforts made to ensure we continue to receive this award,” Gass said.

The Certificate of Achievement is considered the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting. Receiving the award signals that a government entity has met rigorous standards for financial transparency, accountability and reporting.

County officials said the continued recognition reflects Floyd County’s long-standing commitment to providing clear and accurate financial information to the public.
