The Georgia Highlands College Foundation held its first meeting of the new year today, welcoming eight new trustees to its Board of Trustees and marking a leadership transition that continues the Foundation’s long-standing commitment to student success and community impact.
Newly elected trustees joining the board include:
- Kurt Stuenkel, Atrium Health Floyd
- Pam Powers-Smith, Rome-Floyd Chamber of Commerce
- Regina Shaw, UGA Extension – Bartow Farmers Market
- Glenn Jordan, Chick-fil-A
- Jenny Shealy, Network Day Service Center
- Joe Head, Bartow History Institute
- John Daniels, Danjo Agency LLC
- Matt Santini, Anverse Inc.
These new trustees join a legacy that began with the Foundation’s first board in 1973, just three years after Georgia Highlands College was founded. For more than five decades, the GHC Foundation has played a vital role in advancing educational opportunities and strengthening the college’s ability to serve students across Northwest Georgia.
Additionally, the meeting included the ceremonial passing of the gavel from outgoing Board Chair D. Randall Quick to C. Andrew Garner III, who will serve as the Foundation’s new Board Chair.
Quick will remain on the executive board as Past Chair, continuing his service and leadership to the Foundation.
Garner, a partner at MSP Law Firm, joined his firm in 2001 and was elected to partnership in 2006. He previously served as a judicial clerk to Judges J. Carlisle Overstreet and Carl C. Brown Jr. of the Augusta Judicial Circuit.
Deeply involved in civic and professional leadership, Garner is an active member of the Rome Seven Hills Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow. He has held numerous leadership roles within the Rome Bar Association, the Historic College Heights Neighborhood Association, and the Greater Rome Chamber of Commerce, where he currently serves as Vice Chair for Community Development.
Garner resides in Rome and is a member of First Presbyterian Church, where he serves as a Deacon and teaches adult Sunday School.
