Polk County authorities responded to a reported domestic altercation at a residence on Lee Road on Jan. 31, 2026, involving former spouses Brandon Ray Smith, 39, and Tashina Naomi Smith, 40, both of Cedartown.

The call originated from Tashina Smith, who reported that her ex-husband had come to her home, refused to leave, and physically assaulted her.

She stated she was inside the residence with the doors locked and advised that no weapons were involved.

Upon arrival, deputies made contact with Tashina Smith, who reported that an argument escalated into a physical altercation during which she was allegedly thrown against a wall and through a door, resulting in bruising to her arms. Deputies observed a door off its hinges; however, she provided conflicting statements regarding whether the damage occurred during the incident.

Brandon Ray Smith was later located nearby and was found to have visible scratches on his head, face, and neck, which were documented by body-worn camera. He stated the dispute began the previous day and alleged the incident was related to ongoing personal issues.

Due to conflicting statements and visible injuries on both parties, deputies determined probable cause existed to arrest both individuals.

Brandon Ray Smith was charged with Simple Battery (Family Violence), while Tashina Naomi Smith was charged with Battery (Family Violence).
