Allatoona Lake Campgrounds to Begin Opening in March; Payne Campground to Remain Closed

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Allatoona Lake will begin opening its campgrounds for the 2026 recreation season in March, officials announced.

However, Payne Campground will remain closed until further notice due to problems with its sand filtration septic system. Officials said the system does not meet discharge standards set by the Georgia Environmental Protection Division.
