Patrico Diaz Mendez, 24 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he attacked a 32 year-old woman with a knife.
Police said that Mendez brandished the knife during the altercation at a home on Wilkins Street. Mendez is also accused of dragging the victim by the hair before using his hands in an attempt to strangle her.
The incident occurred in front of four small children.
Mendez is charged with aggravated assault and 4 counts 3rd degree cruelty of children.
