Rockmart High School has named Rich Fendley as its new head football coach, bringing in one of the state’s most accomplished coaches to lead the Yellow Jackets program.

Fendley, a four-time Georgia state championship coach, comes to Rockmart from Bowdon, where he built a perennial powerhouse and earned a reputation as one of the most respected coaches in high school football. His hiring marks a significant move for Rockmart as the program looks to build on recent success and compete at a high level in the coming seasons.

He replaces Biff Parson, who accepted the head coaching position at Hart County earlier this month after leading Rockmart in recent years.

School officials said Fendley’s championship pedigree, emphasis on discipline and player development, and deep knowledge of the Georgia high school football landscape made him the clear choice to take over the program.
