Joshua Gilbert Bishop, 39 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he raped and assaulted a woman at a home on Dellvue Place.
Reports said that Bishop imprisoned the woman while forcing her to have sexual intercourse with him. Bishop is also accused of hitting the woman in the face with an open hand as well as holding her legs over her head during the assault.
Police added that the victim suffered severe bruising and injuries to her neck, legs and stomach.
Bishop is charged with aggravated assault, rape, false imprisonment, battery, and probation violation.
