Local outreach leader Dr. Ray Miniyar is calling on residents to take an active role in helping homeless individuals who often live unseen throughout the city.
Many people experiencing homelessness are living under bridges, in wooded areas, or hidden corners. Without access to cell phones, the internet, or social media, they frequently have no way to request basic necessities such as blankets or warm clothing. To help close that gap, Dr. Miniyar is encouraging residents to act as a “bridge” for those in need.
Community members who encounter someone experiencing homelessness can submit a blanket or clothing request on that person’s behalf through the organization’s website, www.DRMINIYAR.com.
Dr. Miniyar also asks residents, when possible, to gather basic information such as a general location or a simple plan for follow-up contact. Volunteers can then help coordinate a safe meeting time at one of the organization’s office locations, available Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
According to Dr. Miniyar, the initiative depends on everyday citizens serving as ambassadors for vulnerable neighbors who may otherwise be left out of support programs simply because they lack access to technology.“Together, we can make sure no one is left out,”
Dr. Miniyar said, emphasizing that small acts of compassion can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those experiencing homelessness.
