Laughter will take center stage at the historic DeSoto Theatre on January 22, 2026, as The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary hosts “The Gift of Laughter,” a one-night-only evening of clean comedy headlined by nationally known comedians Kenn Kington and Kay Dodd. The show begins at 7 p.m. and features general admission seating.

Billed as a lighthearted night out that offers “an experience instead of more stuff,” the event aims to deliver more than just entertainment. Proceeds will support the wide-reaching programs of The Salvation Army of Rome, helping families throughout Floyd, Polk, and Chattooga counties.

The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary—made up of local women from diverse churches and backgrounds—organizes the annual fundraiser and contributes countless volunteer hours throughout the year. Money raised from The Gift of Laughter will stay within the local community, supporting vital services such as emergency social assistance, men’s and women’s shelters, free Music Monday lessons, summer camp scholarships for children, and the daily community dinner that serves hot meals every night of the year.

Organizers say that by simply enjoying an evening of comedy, attendees help ensure these programs continue to impact lives.

Tickets are on sale now, and organizers expect a full house for this uplifting community event.
