District Attorney Jaeson Smith announced this week that Najawon Stallworth, 32, of Cedartown, entered a guilty plea to charges of armed robbery and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Stallworth was sentenced to 20 years, with 10 years to be served in the Georgia Department of Corrections, followed by 15 years under supervision by the Georgia Department of Community Supervision.

The case was prosecuted by Chief Assistant District Attorney Robert Peterkin and A.D.A. Kayleigh Carter. The investigation was led by the Cedartown Police Department in coordination with investigators from the Tallapoosa Circuit District Attorney’s Office.

The charges stemmed from an armed robbery that occurred at a convenience store on South Main Street in Cedartown. Video evidence captured an individual, identified as Stallworth, loading ammunition into a handgun and brandishing the weapon at the victim before taking a concealed firearm belonging to the victim. Stallworth had a prior felony conviction, having pled guilty to drug-related charges in 2019.

District Attorney Jaeson Smith praised the work of law enforcement involved in the case, stating:

“I want to thank the a Cedartown Police Departments and all of the law enforcement investigators involved in this case. The evidence obtained from the scene was critical in securing the guilty plea and ensuring that a dangerous offender is held accountable.”
