A 38 year-old Calhoun man, Alvaro Perez-y-Perez has been sentenced to life in prison after being convicted of raping and abusing his disabled wife.

Reports said that the victim suffers from a degenerative muscular disease and has lost most of the use of her arms and legs.

During the trial, evidence showed that Perez would kick his wife’s legs, leaving visible markings, and would threaten to tape her mouth closed if she would ask for food.
