For 50 years, AdventHealth Redmond has led the way in heart care for Northwest Georgia, a legacy that began in 1975 with the opening of the region’s first Cardiac Catheterization Lab. What started as a small, determined team rolling equipment down hospital hallways became the foundation of a nationally recognized and respected program.

Before the Cath Lab, heart care was limited and many patients had to travel to Atlanta for care. The new lab changed everything, giving local physicians the ability to diagnose heart disease close to home and setting Redmond on a path of continuous innovation.

That spirit of progress never stopped. In the decades that followed, Redmond introduced the region’s first open-heart surgery program, advanced interventional procedures like balloon angioplasty and stents, and later milestone achievements such as its 100,000th catheterization and its first TAVR procedure. Most recently, AdventHealth Redmond became the first hospital in Georgia to use a medicated surgical balloon designed to help prevent scar tissue from returning — another step forward in improving outcomes for patients.

Today, AdventHealth Redmond offers a comprehensive structural heart program grounded in both cutting‑edge technology and compassionate care. And while the innovations have been remarkable, those who’ve served in the Cath Lab say the real secret to Redmond’s success is its team members who show up early, stay late, and always put patients first.

Half a century later, that same commitment continues to guide every advancement, every breakthrough, and every life touched.
