Jaquin Caleia Barton, 24 of Rome, was arrested this week after he allegedly lied to police during a traffic stop in which he was found to have been driving high on drugs.
Police said that after stopping Barton on Wayside Road for nearly causing a wreck, he lied about his identity. Officers also noticed a strong marijuana odor coming from his vehicle, along with his eyes being bloodshot.
It was later discovered that he was wanted on a failure to appear warrant and had been driving without a valid license.
Barton is charged with false statements and writings, giving false information to police, obstruction, failure to yield, reckless driving, driving without license, DUI and failure to appear.
