Officials from Cedartown High School no-showed an appeal meeting for reclassification this week.
Following the reclassifications last week, Cedartown High School requested that it be moved from Class 5A to Class 4A.
By not showing, Cedartown High School now faces a fine from the GHSA.
According to Assistant Superintendent and County Athletics Director Barry Williams, Cedartown High School Principal Scott Wilson, who requested to appeal the school’s placement in 5A, was mistaken in the interpretation of the move.
Preliminary region alignments were released on Tuesday, placing Cedartown in Region 7-5A, along with Allatoona, Cartersville, Cass, Dalton, Villa Rica and Woodland, Cartersville.
