The Rome Chapter of The Compassionate Friends will host its annual Worldwide Candlelight Remembrance Event on Saturday, December 14, at Life Church of Rome, offering a space for families and friends to honor and remember children who have gone too soon.

Registration will begin at 6:00 p.m., followed by the candlelight program at 6:45 p.m. Attendees are also welcome to join the chapter’s regular monthly support meeting held earlier that evening at 6:00 p.m. at the same location.

This heartfelt event is part of a global tradition that brings together families and communities each year on the second Sunday in December, a date officially designated by President Bill Clinton as National Children’s Memorial Day. Beginning at 7 p.m. local time, candles are lit in homes, churches, and gathering places around the world, creating a continuous 24-hour wave of light and remembrance that travels across time zones.

Organizers say the event provides comfort and connection for those grieving the loss of a child, helping them know they are not alone.

Community members are encouraged to attend and take part in this meaningful evening of remembrance, reflection, and hope.
