A convicted sex offender, Alford Eugene Reed, 65 of Rome, was arrested this week for violating his terms of release, along with being found with an assortment of drugs.
Police said that Reed made false statements to police about his home address back on September 4th.
While being taken into custody, Reed was reportedly found in possession of methamphetamine and a glass smoking device.
After arriving at the jail, Reed was found with additional meth that had been dropped in the floorboard of the patrol car. Police added that Reed had attempted to smash the meth into the floor in an attempt to destroy evidence.
Reed was convicted of rape and kidnapping back in 1983.
Reed is charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug-related objects, tampering with evidence, failure to register as a sex offender and possession of drugs by an inmate.
