Ellis Franklin Land JR, 48 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he allowed his 10-year-old child to miss an excessive amount of days of school.
Reports said that the child missed 34 days of school, 24 of those unexcused, between August 1, 202,4 and September 25, 2025. Land had received multiple notices of truancy before allowing an additional 14 unexcused absences.
Land is charged with the mandatory education of children.
