The Cedartown Performing Arts Center will host a public reception for its Polk County history-themed art exhibit on Thursday, Nov. 6, at 6 p.m. The event is open to the community and admission is free. The Cedartown Performing Arts Center is located at 205 East Avenue.

Guests in attendance will be the first to view the full exhibit, meet the artists, and see the winners of the first, second, and third-place ribbons.

The 2025 competition asked artists to create original work inspired by Polk County’s past, including beloved landmarks, historic homes and neighborhoods, local parks, notable people, and cultural icons — from Cedartown and Rockmart to Aragon and everywhere in between. Artwork eligible for display included paintings, drawings, photography, sculpture, and digital work submitted by artists age 18 and older from Polk County and surrounding areas. While artists from neighboring counties were invited to participate, every entry had to connect directly to Polk County history.

Selected pieces will remain on display in the Cedartown Performing Arts Center lobby gallery through Monday, Dec. 22, with the gallery open on Mondays, Wednesday, and Fridays from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m.

Community members, supporters of the arts, and local history lovers are encouraged to attend the Nov. 6 reception, celebrate the artists, and enjoy an evening of Polk County culture.
