Timothy Edward Lary, 28 of Rome, was sentenced to 20 years in prison this week after being found guilty of involuntary manslaughter and arson in the death of his 70 year-old step-mother, Sarah Lynn Lary, at her residence on Addington Court in West Rome.
Reports said that the incident began with an altercation with his father, Edward Lary, and stepmother Sarah Lary over money.
Lary proceeded to pour alcohol on his bed as well as ripping up some cardboard before setting their trailer on fire.
Sarah Lary was killed when she died after attempting to save her animals from the fire.
