A Buchanan man has been charged in connection with a break-in and theft reported in Cedartown. According to investigators, 23-year-old Jacob Adam Hopkins has been charged with first-degree burglary, theft by taking, and criminal trespass after items were stolen from a building on the property.

Deputies said the lock on the building had been broken off, and pry marks were found on the door. The building had been ransacked, and several items were reported missing, including a Ryobi leaf blower, a Hyper Tough skill saw, and a Wise security camera.

A neighbor told authorities he saw Hopkins and another man walking toward the residence around 1 a.m. dressed in black. The witness reported seeing the two return about 15 minutes later carrying items, including a leaf blower strapped across Bagley’s torso.

Investigators said the witness immediately notified the property owner, who later confirmed the break-in.
