District Attorney Jaeson Smith announced today that a Haralson County jury has returned a guilty verdict in the trial of Tyrone Daniel, who was convicted of rape, incest, and child molestation following a week-long trial.

The jury deliberated for approximately two hours before delivering the verdict shortly before 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 26. Daniel was accused of sexually assaulting a young family member who was visiting his residence in Bremen.

During the trial, the jury also heard testimony from a previous victim from fifteen years ago, whose parents had not reported Daniel’s acts to law enforcement. The case was prosecuted by Chief Assistant District Attorney Robert Peterkin and Assistant District Attorney Jason Jones, with investigative support led by Jason Bowman of the Haralson County Sheriff’s Office and Blake Terry of the District Attorney’s Office.

District Attorney Jaeson Smith praised the collaborative efforts that led to the conviction, stating:“The victim’s strength and bravery were the driving forces in bringing Tyrone Daniel to justice. I want to especially thank the West Georgia Child Advocacy Center for their critical role in conducting the forensic interview and for presenting key evidence at trial.

This outcome was the result of outstanding teamwork among law enforcement, prosecutors, and victim support professionals.”Sentencing is scheduled for November 13 before Superior Court Judge Andrew Roper.
