Robert Wayne King, 67 of Centre, was arrested in Rome after reports said he was found driving a truck with a stolen car tag attached.

Police said that they stopped King at the GMC store on Alabama Highway after they said they saw the registration on the tag was expired.  During the stop they discovered that the tag had been reported stolen.

After stopping, King allegedly attempted to avoid arrest by fleeing the scene on foot.  He was captured after a short chase.

King is charged with theft by receiving stolen property, concealing the identity of vehicle, obstruction, operation of unregistered vehicle, and failure to appear.
