A Cedartown man, 20-year-old Mark Justin Williams, was arrested on multiple charges, including aggravated assault, simple battery, and obstruction, following a domestic incident on August 30, 2025.
According to the police report, officers were dispatched to a call at 701 Cooper Street, Apt #5, in reference to a domestic dispute that had already occurred. Upon arrival, the complainant, a local woman, described an ongoing issue with her soon-to-be ex-husband, Williams. She stated that Williams had followed her to her residence and forcibly entered her home, accusing her of infidelity.
The situation reportedly escalated when Williams became physical, allegedly choking her while calling her derogatory names. During the altercation, the victim sustained visible injuries, including a busted lip, scratches on her neck, and bruises on her face, arms, and legs. She also claimed that Williams had been physical with her the previous day, August 29, but did not contact authorities at the time.
In addition to the reported assault at her home, the victim also stated that Williams had shown up at her workplace on August 29, refusing to leave and engaging in another physical confrontation.
Police later located Williams at a residence on Thompson Street. When questioned, Williams initially denied being at the victim’s residence on August 30 but acknowledged being there the previous day. Upon being informed that he was under arrest, Williams attempted to resist, turning away as officers tried to apprehend him. Police then drew a taser and aimed it at Williams as he struggled to avoid arrest.
After further resistance, Williams was placed in handcuffs and transported to the Polk County Jail. During the transport, Williams continued to resist, attempting to pull away and avoid entering the patrol vehicle. Once again, officers pointed the taser at Williams to gain compliance, after which Williams was safely secured in the vehicle.
At the jail, it was discovered that Williams was under existing bond conditions that prohibited violent contact with the victim. Williams was booked into the Polk County Jail without incident.
Williams faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault, simple battery, and obstruction.
