George Edward Daniel, 63 of Calhoun, was arrested this week following an armed confrontation outside the Calhoun Lodge.
According to Calhoun Police Chief Tony Pyle, officers responded around 12:30 p.m. on September 17 to a disturbance reported in the parking lot of the Calhoun Lodge, located at 200 South Line Street.
Witnesses at the scene reported that a man, who appeared to be highly intoxicated, was involved in a heated verbal altercation. During the confrontation, the suspect allegedly pulled what appeared to be a firearm from his waistband, pointed it at another individual, and made violent threats.
The man then retreated to his apartment with his juvenile son before police arrived. Officers attempted to make contact, but the suspect refused to open the door. Detectives later obtained a search warrant and entered the residence, where the suspect was taken into custody without further incident.
Police confirmed the child was unharmed and was released to a family member.
Daniel is charged with Aggravated Assault, Disorderly Conduct, Obstruction of Law Enforcement, and Cruelty to Children in the third degree.
