Maria Elena Ortiz Nunez, 45 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said she took over $40,500 in cash from an elderly woman’s bank account while running up nearly $11,000 in purchases on her credit card.
Reports indicated that the purchases were made between May 1, 2025 and July 16, 2025.
Nunez is charged with financial transaction card fraud and exploitation and intimidation of the elderly.
