A now former bank teller at Colony Bank, Mikayla Marie Brewster, 29 of Cedartown, is facing multiple felony charges after police say she stole cash from customer transactions while working as a teller.

The investigation began on August 7th after a customer reported being shorted during a cash-back transaction. Detectives with the department’s Criminal Investigative Unit reviewed surveillance footage and monitored teller activity over the next several days. Police say that several hundred dollars from drive-thru transactions were found to be missing, with Brewster identified as the sole suspect.

Authorities confirmed that Brewster acted alone and emphasized that the investigation is still active, with additional charges possible. She was released on a $15,000 bond.

Brewster is charged with three counts of felony theft by taking.
