Jedidiah Anthony Weiland Rhodes, 30 of Lindale, was arrested this week after reports said he starved his dog, Doobie, to the point of near death.
Police said that Rhodes failed to provide the animal with food and water over a period of time. Doobie was found to have a rating of 1 out of 9 on the Purina Body Conditioning scale. His ribs, lumbar, vertebrae, and pelvic bones were all evident from a distance. The animal also suffered muscle atrophy and had a voracious appetite with a severe flea infestation.
The animal was found at a home on Avenue C in Lindale.
Rhodes is charged with aggravated cruelty to animals.
