Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) awarded a $5.5 million contract to resurface U.S. Highway 411 in Bartow County. The project will extend from the Floyd County line 6.3 miles to Hardin Bridge Road. C.W. Matthews Contracting Co. received the contract, and work is expected to get underway in the coming months.

Development along Highway 411 has greatly increased traffic on the route in recent years. Two new traffic signals were recently installed, and GDOT District Six Engineer Grant Waldrop said he expects the volume of motorists will only continue to grow.

“Highway 411 has seen so much growth in the last couple of years,” Waldrop said. “Resurfacing the road now will ensure a smooth ride to handle the added traffic projected with the addition of new industries between Cartersville and Floyd County.”

The contract was part of the more than $98 million in contracts GDOT awarded in June. GDOT awarded $2.2 billion in contracts throughout all of the Fiscal 2025.
