A 56-year-old Rome woman, Vickie Lynn Frantz, who was an employee at the Atlanta Transitional Center, has been fired and arrested after allegedly attempting to engage in inappropriate conduct with an inmate, although she insists she was coerced.
Frantz worked as a purchasing assistant at the facility and was caught last week by a security guard who reported seeing her with an inmate in her office. According to the guard, Frantz was lying on an inmate bed mat, without her pants, while the inmate stood over her. Authorities charged her with criminal intent to commit a felony and trading with inmates without approval.
The official report claims Frantz allowed the inmate into her office and stripped down in preparation for sexual activity, though she was interrupted before any acts took place. Additionally, she is said to have accepted $50 in exchange for smuggling cigarettes into the facility.
The Atlanta Transitional Center provides housing and work opportunities for male inmates nearing the end of their sentences, assisting with their transition back into society.
