Alzie Ladell Tolbert, 60 of Rome, who is HIV positive, is facing felony charges after reports said he allowed an arresting officer to be stuck by his needle.
Reports said that the officer was conducting a search when he was stuck by an exposed needle in his pocket. The action of Tolbert placed the officer in danger of contracting HIV.
The incident occurred near the intersection of N Avery Road and Albert Avenue.
Tolbert is charged with assault by HIV infected person, reckless conduct, driving on a suspended license and operation of an unregistered vehicle.
