Joshua Ryan Ellsberry, 34 of Rockmart, was arrested this week after reports said he choked his girlfriend out during an altercation that became physical.
Reports said that Ellsberry went through the victim’s cellphone as she slept after feeling that she was cheating on him. When the victim woke and attempted to get her cellphone back, Ellsberry placed her in a chokehold.
Investigators said that the victim suffered visible injuries to her back and neck.
Police added that on the way to jail, Ellsberry told them that the victim did the “same thing” with her ex-husband and did not believe anything she said. He also told police that the victim punched him during an argument the day prior.
Ellsberry is charged with aggravated assault.
